Ahead of Governorship election in Edo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed its readiness to conduct a credible Edo State governorship election scheduled to hold tomorrow.

Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze stated this on NTA’S Good Morning Nigeria while discussing update on Edo Governorship election.

As the call for the sale of national assets continue to spark more debate across the country, guests on NTA’S flagship programme Good Morning Nigeria have called for caution, stressing that the sale of prime national assets to fund the country out of economic recession could be counter-productive going forward.

Information Minister On World Tourism Day
Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said despite the current economic recession, Nigeria’s future is bright, as the country diversifies its economy away from oil.

Navy Arrest Oil Bunkers In Akwa Ibom.

Nigeria Navy has arrested six suspected oil thieves in Akwa Ibom State.

In a statement signed by Director Information, Nigeria Navy, Commodore Christian Ezekobe, said three of the suspected oil thieves were arrested around prime energy ehile other were caught conveying ten drums of allegedly stolen petrol and five drums of illegal refined diesel in the three speed boats.

The statement added that the sum of over two point six million was found over to the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corp.

Similarly, NNS Pathfinder patrol refinery in Isaka Community in Rivers State where a Cotonou boat loaded with crude oil was impounded.

House Of Representatives Debate On State Police

The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill for an act to provide for the establishment of a State Police in Nigeria.

CPC Ultimatum On Samsung Galaxy 7

Samsung electronics West African says it has complied with the ultimatum given to it by the Consumer Protection Council, CPC to give a status reports on the global recall of Galaxy Note 7 in Nigeria, one of the its latest device.

This is sequel to report of explosion of dozens of the device while on charge.  Though the device was yet to be launched in Nigeria, Samsung assured its readiness to provide voluntary exchange to customers who may have purchased it elsewhere and brought it into the country.

Affected customers are advised to submit their devices to Samsung authorized service centres in Nigeria for replacement in the coming weeks.

Samsung says its cooporation with the recommendations of the consumer protection council is assured since customer safety is of greatest priority.
