Niyola was still in bed as her roommate left for exams that Wednesday morning. It was about eight thirty in the morning. Just as she was telling her roommate bye, her phone rang. She talked to West on the phone for about a minute and half, and after agreeing to see him in school, layer that say, he hung up. She didn't know what she was feeling, but at least, her day won't go uneventful.
It was past three in the afternoon and there was still no light at Camp. She had a date by 4pm, an hour time. She was so at loss with what to do. Without wasting much time, she got dressed up. She actually meant to make the date. But there was just one problem, her phone was dead. There was no way for her to contact West. After getting dressed up, she put a few things into her bag, including her phone charger. She intended to stop by her friend's at Gate and get her phone charged.
Finally switching her phone on, she dialled West's number. Doubting if he would pick up and even if he did, it was gonna be difficult to try to convince him that she didn't show up unintentionally. "... Where are you?", West heard Niyola speak softly on the other end of the line. Twenty minutes later, the two were in a cab together, on their way to Niyola's. On getting there, West would rather they sat outside and talk. It was dark already, there was no point in going in, as he won't be staying long...so he thought. He looked into her eyes and took a deep breath. Then he started talking. He talked about how much he acknowledged her demanding for space. He talked about how sorry he was for not being cool about it. Then he talked about how much he missed her. He felt so vulnerable saying all that to her, but he didn't mind. He wanted her back so badly so badly that he disregarded logic. As he was about to go on with the talks, she shut him up with a k*ss. For a split moment, he felt himself about to leave his body. It all felt like a dream to him,but it wasn't long before he realized it wasn't. Niyola finally explained the reason she asked him for space was because she's been getting too distracted, so much that she was starting to miss out on school work. She further explained that she initially planned to get back with him immediately exams were over. She claimed she missed him every minute of the day. For West, it was like his lucky day. He felt so stupid for initially not wanting to spend another day in school after exams. He knew he was gonna stay in school for a while longer.
It was Septembe, the 18th already. The last day of exams for the session. After doing justice to a place of food each at the Tantalizers located right in the school compound, Lance and West made for the hostel, to await Tessy, Lance's girlfriend. As they proceeded to the hostel, they saw a group of students putting on white vests, screaming on a nearby lawn. Final year students, Lance thought. Just at that moment, West received a text from Niyola. "I think they're through now. I just received a text from Niyola. Tessy should be on her wayanytime soon", West informed his pal.
Hours later,West and Niyola could be sightedon their way to the park, hand in hand, with all smiles. What a great things to feel this way once more, West thought. But something deep down told him he couldn't have it all. Something told him the sweet dreams would soon be over. As much as he tried to ignore the tiny silent pessimistic voice in him, a part of him knew it was right. Just another minute before something goes awful again.
